I just wanted to let you know that RYDLYME Marine solved my overheating problems.
For a little background, a year ago I bought a 1987 PT - 46 Trawler with twin Caterpillar 3208TA diesel engines.
The boat had not been used very much by the prior owner and it ended up sitting at the dock.
When I bought it, the engines would run at normal temperature as long as I kept the RPM's down to about 1600.
If I went over 1600, the engines would overheat, at 1800 RPM the temperature would climb from 185 to 195, and
if I went over 2,000 RPM the engines would climb to over 205 degrees. I tried several different approaches to
solving the problem and was just about ready to resort to having the cooling system removed, boiled out and replaced.
That would include removal of the main engine heat exchanger, oil cooler and transmission cooler.
The local Cat dealer estimated the work would cost about $5,000. While looking for solutions to the problem on the internet,
I came across the site for RYDLYME Marine and that's when I called and talked to a sales rep. Last week my five gallon drum arrived.
I turned off the sea cock to stop the flow of raw water into the system and then drained all the raw water from the system.
Then I attached a bent hose to the highest point on the engine and poured in the RYDLYME Marine. It was late in the day so I
decided to let it sit overnight. When I came back in the next morning, I opened the sea cock and had my brother start the
engine while I watched the exhaust. It was truly amazing, first the water came out black, then dark brown, then it changed
to a green color and finally after about three to four minutes, the water ran clear. It also ran at twice the flow rate it
had been running at. After treating both engines with RYDLYME Marine we took the boat for a ride. Prior to this time we
had never run it at over 2000 RMP and the highest speed we ever saw was 14 MPH. On our test run, we ran the engines at 2400 RPM
and reached a speed of 22 MPH and the engines never overheated. RYDLYME Marine solved my problem and saved me $5,000.00. I have
told everyone in the marina about it and I am planning to call Westmarine Headquarters and ask them to start carrying RYDLYME Marine at their stores.
You have a great product and the service has been excellent. If you ever need a reference, please don't hesitate to call me.
Best Regards,
Rich Schmidt
